ACADEMICS
COLLEGE & RELATIONSHIP AWARENESS
Junior year at AOC is a chance to refine your plan beyond high school and build the strengths and talents that will apply to your career and college major. Students will join a college that provides opportunity at AOC for students and staff to channel a student's classroom contributions to their career interests and necessary skills. At AOC, students will build on collegiate academics, collaboration and communication skills, and academic creativity. COC classes will strengthen academic skills and further a student’s understanding of possible majors. Students refine their understanding of relationships and the role they play in productivity, happiness, identity, and fulfillment.
DEVELOPING YOUR POST-GRAD PLANS
Now that you've explored the possibilities, you are given the necessary resources to engage in your academic path and to develop relevant skills and experiences that will prepare you for college.
COLLABORATE & PROBLEM-SOLVE
As a junior, you will learn about the numerous injustices throughout American History. With (and without) your peers, you will create thoughtful, skillful projects based on insightful texts.
During junior year, we did the American Culture Project which encourages students to think about themselves and their culture. The project requires students to pick one aspect of their culture and research it thoroughly. After researching, the student formulates an informative presentation discussing the core aspects of the culture as well as its relation to the broader American culture.
