Campus Traditions & Yearly Events
When you arrive on campus, you'll discover AOC's many unique traditions. Some have always belonged to the AOC experience, while others are much more recent—but they all play an important role in the life of AOC students. Through experiences such as the Back to School Dance, Class Cup, March Madness, and the Spring Showcase, students are immersed in the culture and experiences that enrich campus life.
RICH TRADITIONS, LASTING MEMORIES
Most of our students would agree that yearly events and traditions play a big part in defining the Academy of the Canyons experience. Our close-knit community makes it even easier for our students to enjoy these traditions, together.
Back to School Dance
To kick off our school year, our Associated Student Body hosts a Back to School Dance that follows a specific theme that changes from year to year. Many consider the Back to School Dance as a significant milestone in the formation of new friendships and groups.
Club Food Day
A lunch-time event in the Fall semester, where students are given the opportunity to support our campuses’ clubs, who serve as food, drink, and snack vendors.
Academy Class Cup
Class Cup is considered one of the staples of the AOC experience. In a week-long competition amongst classes, students can earn class cup points for their grade by participating in spirit days and fundraisers! The competition finishes off with a class-cup football game amongst the classes.
Flag Football Game

Halloween Festivities
During the halloween season, students are given the opportunity to participate in a costume contest. Students can also participate in a trunk-or-treat event, where students decorate the trunks of their cars and hand out candy to passing students.
Talent Show
Hosted in the COC Cafeteria, our students showcase their different talents in a themed event. Auditions are traditionally held around 3-4 weeks prior to the talent show.
March Madness
Cheer on your fellow peers, as they play in a 5-on-5 basketball tournament! Each class has two teams of 8, as they look to advance through the tournament bracket. There is also a halftime performance before the final game between the two teams that advance through the entire bracket.
Senior Dance
As part of the end-of-year senior festivities, ASB hosts a ballroom-style dance for seniors as a night of celebration and fun before they graduate.
