CAREER

What I'm currently doing/hope to do

After graduating with my degree in Marketing, I entered the workforce in the world of advertising. I currently work as a Media Buyer at an agency where I work with an entertainment studio as my client. As a media buyer, I negotiate with media outlets on behalf of my client to place ads on a multitude of television networks. My day to day involves collaborating with internal strategy teams, the client, and working with various vendors in order to execute a media plan. While I work in media advertising, my background comes from social media marketing and digital marketing as I've completed internships focusing on these areas throughout my college career.

ADVICE

How to maximize my time in high school?

  • Advice #1: Network, network, network!! It's so important to build relationships especially with people in fields you're interested in. Schedule phone calls, zoom meetings, grab coffee -- you want it to be personal.

  • Advice #2: Utilize LinkedIn to make networking easier. You can connect with people from companies you're interested in to gain perspective and build your network.

  • Advice #3: Create a portfolio. If you're interested in the creative side of marketing or if you're applying to colleges, compile all your projects into a website. Your projects are your own and will set you apart from other candidates.

  • Advice #4: Get certified! There are so many free resources to learn more about different aspects of marketing. Hubspot is a free resource you can take advantage of.
